Some everyday objects are updated versions of much older ideas. Like many other handheld kitchen utensils, the form of this griddle—a circular rimmed platter of conductive metal with an arched handle for placing or hanging over a heat source—has been in common use for centuries.

The classic form was brought up to date by the use of its modern material—aluminum—which made it far lighter and easier to clean than its cast-iron predecessors. The handle folds down around the outer edge for easy storage. The simplicity of this functional geometric form is timeless.
